Hoisting Up My Digital Backpack
As teachers, we need to know how to use technology ourselves in order to lead by example. Providing teachers with a different (and extremely accessible) facet to reach children, facilitating learning with technology is a subject we should be aware of in order to maintain relevance and cope effectively with students who have various learning styles. With teaching being an evolving art, I as a teacher should always be “honing my craft;” this constant improvement will involve me knowing how to use technology. Already, I consider technology to be a potential tool for reaching students of various backgrounds and learning styles. I hope to use technology in my instruction as a way of exposing children to a unit or lesson, supplementing the material I want to cover. Similar to an activity, I want technology to support me in my instruction rather than becoming the focus that distracts students from comprehending the points I am trying to make in a lesson. My goals in using this blog and other types of technology are to gain a better understanding of how technology enhances a classroom and to learn how I can utilize various kinds of technology in my own lessons. With that in mind, I hoist up my digital backpack and forge ahead on my journey to discover ways of using technology as a means of effective instruction.
